I’m Svetlana and I am so glad you’ve reached my blog page! Cooking is one of my great passions in life. The others are being a mother and an educator. Over the years, I have developed this passion for cooking and hosting in my home. When the kids were little, we would put on dinners at ‘Svetlucci’s’ Restaurant and Bistro. I would cook, the kids would design the menu, and serve as waiters and hostess as our guest would arrive. We even roped in the cousins one New Years Eve (I bought white bow ties for all the kids to wear!). It was great fun and many happy memories created over the years. Even now, we still enjoy cooking together and hosting friends and family in our home for monthly dinner and the occasional staff holiday party. I have earned a reputation for the “hostess with the mostest” and I thoroughly enjoy that role!! Nothing makes me happier then cooking, serving, and watching my guests sit back, relax, and fill their stomachs with good food and drink.
I thought of starting this blog after I launched my professional blog a few months ago (carpediemblog.org). I want this cooking blog to become an archive of recipes for my family and friends as a reminder of all the delicious dishes we have shared across the table. In this age of digital footprints, I’m hoping my children and grandchildren will be able to enjoy the meals posted here and listen to the stories that go with them. Many dishes you will find here are passed down from my grandmothers, mother, father and others that have had an influence on my culinary talents. I believe that the food we serve in our homes becomes a part of the legacy we leave behind for generations to come.
Since I am Serbian, some of the dishes may have an ethnic flare…don’t be afraid, try them as they may become your new favorites as well!
